Illustrations all generated using Mage.Space
CD Projekt Red for Cyberpunk 2077 which gave me the idea to write this book. Nurse MamaBear75 and Kiva get double credit lines because they and their insane clinic setup keep me inspired to keep writing.
No part of this book has been generated by AI however the book has been edited by AI for proper reading. (Because hiring an editor costs a f*cking fortune I don’t have)
This book contains at each chapters end (including the prelude) a United Nations Technicians Testimony Group. The UNTTG contains the following and is the only section in this book that is typically AI assisted rather than hand typed (the rest of it is all hand typed. AI’s are incredibly good at these kind of distillation actions where people lose creativity in distillation)
1. a glossary of special technical terms used in that chapter.
2. Has medical notations explaining how technologies are comparable to or advance existing technology (no part of this book is patented however if you use one of the ideas I wrote here for a piece of tech, do consider crediting me on your patent and giving 5% or more in royalties per unit. I expect people to be self attesting to their usage of my intellectual property and USE IT FAIRLY. If you aren’t making money, then you can use it for FREE. If you’re making money then please pay me a fair value!)
3. Timeline placement and world notes (this is where you’ll see the “News” from TVC. Each chapter will have a TVC script. The Prelude has two, one for intro to the world and one for after the Cyberdyne incident.
4. Discussion hook questions. – Designed for high school and college reading programs I provide some questions to hopefully aid in creation of new literature reading programs within the academic setting. This piece of literature contains profanity and therefore is not suitable for the elementary grid. Students in the high school system should read this paragraph before reading the book and take to heart that no language in this book should be repeated in the real world lest consequences be borne upon the one who utters them
5. Technicians Testimony (A technician from beyond the Blackwall known as Alesso Olcott gives legal and technical commentary from the United Nations Technical Office of Tokyo. Her notes are circa 2090.)

Prelude: Jennifer’s Cyberdyne Heist
Southern Tokyo Japan – T0400:06,01,2080
Jennifer awoke at 0400 in the morning. Nothing unusual for a RoboTurret trainee who handles training machine gun turrets at the factory for RoboTech Inc. She got into her car and put it into drive, the self driving machine swiftly taking to the street making nothing of her half mile long driveway. Whisking her to work she checked the news and weather on the cars touchscreen before suddenly she heard shattering glass. A person had been stabbed brutally by a psycho jumping on top of cars and stabbing through the windshield with a red katana. The next thing she saw was her windshield pierced by the katana. She floored it and pulled it out of automatic drive before slamming the car into the front door of the Cyberdyne tower. She stumbled out of the car and the lobby personnel shouted “WHAT THE HELL! Security, secure area. We have a cyberpsycho.” Jennifer shouted “Wait! It’s not me! Look at my Kyoshi recorder!” Two security guards dogpiled her to the ground, a third came over and pulled her Kyoshi wire from behind her ear without even asking, brutishly handling her head and saying “You better be right bitch, or I’ll have the two guys on top of you crush your body.” Jennifer felt a strange tightening around her body, and she knew that she had been trapped in the vice of the Cyberdyne Wrap system. Three glowing belts, one crushing force that can kill in seconds. She laid there while the computer flashed the greusome attack. The men stood up off of her and pulled the glowing belts off. The man standing at her head unlinked the Kyoshi connector and said “Don’t do anything stupid, follow me.” The guard lead Jennifer off to a small room with a computer and sat her at the desk, he walked out and slammed the door shut and said “We will be back in a few hours. We need to secure the lobby. You stay here.” He then walked away and uttered into his radio “Vehicles driver is secured, depositioning room 1 has computer, instructed to wait. Permitted to use the computer for personal enjoyment. Will collect deposition using natural rhythm.”
Jennifer looked over at the computer and said quietly “Hmph, could have told me he wanted me to use it.” She shook the mouse and the machine flickered on. The screen said “Kyoshi Depositioning System – Plug in Kyoshi Connect.” Without hesitation she connected it to her cable behind her ear. Seconds later it beeped and said “Deposition completed, disconnect from Kyoshi Connect.” She disconnected the computer and suddenly it vanished into a regular computer. The fancy Kyoshi interface turned into an average NetNavigator. Jennifer used it to get onto the Tokyo Video Channel. Turning on a water and fire meditation on TVC she laid back in the thick leather office chair and relaxed. A few hours later time slipped by her and suddenly a banging was at the door. The guard yanked the door open and said “With us, you go up to meet Mrs Kyoshi. We find in your car a. What is it? It looks like bag of Kyoshi optics.” He threw the bag with an audible squelch onto the office desk and said “I don’t know what you’re doing with $40 Million of Kyoshi’s but Mrs Kyoshi will figure you out, personally.”
Jennifer could barely control her body, she couldn’t walk any way other than toward Mrs Kyoshi’s office elevator. The guards had done a neural intercept on her and she was being lead to Mrs Kyoshis office like a cow corralled to the slaughter house. No way to back up, only to move forward within the halls, the humming of the computers around them almost deafening. Servers blinking everywhere. This was what Cyberdyne made. Kyoshi optics, Mirogel, and many other BioWare products and medical devices. Once she reached the elevator the guard stood outside and said “See you on the other side.”
The elevator rose quickly to the 150th floor of the massive building. Above the clouds the doors opened revealing Mrs Kyoshi at a massive dark wood desk. She said “Come, sit, plug in, let me see everything on your little mind. BITCH! I’ll know how you got those 40 Million of Kyoshis one way or the other. We can do this the easy way or hard way.”
Jennifer knew she was in deep, no escape, no way out. She walked toward the desk and sat on the cold stainless steel chair, only a thin pad giving some relief to her body. Mrs Kyoshi said aggressively “Well bitch, you plugging in, or am I knocking your ass out and plugging your brain in for you before I dump you down the garbage chute?”
Just like the flash of a camera, Jennifer barely had a chance to reach up to her ear to grab her Kyoshi Connector. Her face was slammed down against the desk by four men and Mrs Kyoshi grabbed the connector and said “This is the last time your bitch brain will be connected to something.” Ripping the cable out of her brain after the download was complete her head began to bleed violently, her eyes turned red and her consciousness fleeted. Mrs Kyoshi said “Take that bag of lenses away from the bitch and toss her down to the crusher. If she survives the trash room she can maybe get fixed up somewhere. But if she ever sets foot on Cyberdyne property again, I’ll make sure to go beyond flatlining the little shit eater.” Jennifer could barely move let alone resist the guards as they dragged her to a chute, her body tumbled and banged against the walls violently. When she landed her vision was red and black, she couldn’t even see the trash around her in the trash room, just red text “Critical Failure – MedDX cannot reach Trauma – No Trauma Certificate Installed – No Coverage – Sending national death signal in 10 seconds.” Jennifer whimpered and then all went black as soon as the loud beep filled her brain. The next thing she felt was a pair of metal claws, one grabbing her legs and the other at her torso yanking her by her jacket. “System Booted – Trauma Team Established on Port 599” showed up and she saw the cranes lifting her to a large flying ambulance. Onto the cold steel pan she went, she screamed “FUCK, NOT A PAN AGAIN!!” Then blacked out. Jennifer had been through multiple near deaths, each time landing on a patient pan. A specialized device made like a mortuary table, designed to drain fluids and allow a better surgical team outcome. Pans were only brought out of the ambulance for patients who were either dead or on their way to death.
Jennifer had gotten what she wanted though. Recorded on her Kyoshi Optic, was the entire inside of Cyberdyne tower, down to the penthouses PIN# to enter the Delta Servers. This is what Jennifer was after. Jennifer had done what few others had lived through, and no one else had kept their optics. Taken for dead after being chucked down the trash chute and discovered by the Robotic Recovery System. RRS extracted her and shipped her off to the Cyberware Service and Surgery Center. Luckily RRS was not connected to the rest of the building, so no security teams knew that Jennifer lived, nor did anyone know what she was now carrying in her head, was essentially the worst thing that could ever be leaked out of the Cyberdyne tower, the internal blueprints, complete with access codes for every, single security door. Though she lost $40M in optics, what she had in her head was a direct key to the Delta Servers. They who hold the control code to the Delta Servers, own the company. While her brain floated in the ambulance hooked up to a neurostimulator to keep pain at bay, she kept thinking about “Owning Cyberdyne” and “Taking Cyberdyne”
The next hour and a half, her brain dreamed in a comatose state of hacking the servers. But what she didn’t know, was that in a matter of less than a month, she would lay hands to the real servers and take over Cyberdyne.
At 0650 in the morning the ambulance landed at the Cyberware Service and Surgery center. Jennifer was rushed into a vitrification room where they perfused her body with clear fluids that preserved mitochondrial function and cardiac muscle. It wasn’t blood, it was a preservative. They connected her Kyoshi Connect (KC) system to a telematics monitor using temporary wiring. Three security guards and a staff member from the National Inspection Bureau stared at the screen. The person from the NIB shouted “Dump everything from her recorder and wipe the chip, better yet pull the chip before she wakes up and shred it. We cannot have her knowing everything inside of Cyberdyne!” A woman stood at the end of the room and screamed “You shall have nothing to do with wiping this womans chip until I say it’s clear and good to go for the wipe. She’s not even stable and you’re already doing data forensics. Get her prepped and move her to OLR#2”
Chapter 1: Sapphires Resurrects Jennifer
Southern Tokyo Japan – T0700:06,01,2080
Sapphire walked the long stretch of pristine pavement between her home LuxeTower located just a half mile from the Cyberware Service and Surgery Center of Japan. The hospital was not like other implant facilities. Ripperdocs carried a poor name reputation for most rippers being in back alleys with clinics often in disrepair made up of equipment from an antique museum. In the year 2080 monitors connect to a patients BioWare instead of using telemetry electrodes. As such anyone who was a ripper had an uphill battle unless they were a ripper at CSSC. With about as many corporate ties as the US Government the CSSC ran television advertisements 24/7 across multiple stations touting their wares available and the state of the art facilities and physicians surgeons and anesthesiologists. Sapphire was not like any other ripper, she was a head level directorate at CSSC. As soon as she stepped through the front door of the obsidian building the security staff stood up at their guard posts and the gates were swung open. She was a person that people at the hospital respected with levels of respect reserved for heads of states. As she walked through the security gates people held elevators for her and asked “What will the big theatre be doing today? What’s the big research show of the day?” To which she would tell them that days major project. Today it was bringing a nineteen year old woman a second chance in life after being in a car wreck that severed the spinal cord at her upper chest level.
Sapphire entered the operating room hall and began getting dressed in her surgical clothing in the scrub room while a hologram projector in the front of the room was showing the entire surgical team while they were scrubbing in what was ahead of them. What Sapphire had walked into this day of work was not like any other accident victim. Jennifer was an associate with RoboTech Mlitary Technologies. She was being driven to one of the corporate offices in a self driving vehicle that she had inherited from ages ago. They were the only thing that people trusted from the vintage car dealerships. Yamer Electric had been making electric cars since 2005. It was an impressive feat of mechanical prowess for people to run Yamer Electrics from the 2000s and yet Jennifer had a 2015 Yamer Electric minivan. She and her family had repair records spanning 50 years and dozens of logged items. Today was just another normal day for Jennifer until a person with a common illness as a result of implanting all sorts of biotech systems in the body, cyber psychosis slammed into the front of her car and then put a katana through the side of her neck severing her spinal cord before leaving her for dead and moving on to the next victim. The cyberpsycho had not yet been named. The only thing they could identify from the womans recorder implant was that the psycho was an overweight 80 year old white man. He wore a black tuxedo with a skull on the back. With little time to continue looking through the footage of the attack they released it to the police and went into the operating room where she laid on a metal table.
This was not a normal operating room, it was the operating room of last resort. If someone came into the OLR awake they knew they were in such condition that they were maybe 50% likely to come off of the table alive. Coming into OLR unconscious is better but means a survival rate of only 25% on average. This said, the OLR treats injuries that would have in the year 2000 been considered 100% fatal.
Jennifer had already been intubated by the Frost Team. intubated was putting it lightly. She had a cannula in her mouth leading down her throat, three large tubes in and out of her chest and five arterial lines across her arms and legs. Her body was pale and clear fluid was being perfused. The woman had been legally deceased for hours. Pronounced dead on the scene with pulseless electrical activity they immediately began replacing blood with a nanoparticle filled liquid that artificially powers metabolism. A ventilator kept her brain from dying while they transported her on a block of ice covered with the cursed patient pan. There was a sudden flurry of chaos in the operating room. Sapphire began shouting a long list of surgical instruments, infusions, medicines and equipment. Her last line most chilling of all “intracardiac defibrillator charged and ready.”
Then a pair of medics wearing heavy aprons started slicing into Jennifers chest. Sapphire looked on casually as if it had happened hundreds of times in front of her, the squelching of flesh and seeing Jennifers vitals tanking toward zeros had her unfazed. As soon as she heard the crack of Jennifers rib cage breaking open from the chest spreader she dove into action throwing the thin tong like paddles into her chest. A soft click and a capacitor recharging and the beep of the monitor was that of a normal heartbeat. Sapphire screamed “Get me some blood perfusing through these lines NOW! I need a chest closure and fifty units of Mirogel.”
The same men, aprons dripping with filth and fluids dove back into action while Sapphire took to a computer charting the encounter “Received 40 year old female named Jennifer, Kyoshi System was triggered by a spinal cord attack at 0522, KS footage was reviewed, patient was perfused with vitrification fluids and placed on artificial circulatory support en route to the facility after being recovered using two robotic cranes at 0530. Upon retrieval the patient was asystolic with no cardiac activity, PEA was noticed on scene and quickly deteriorated into complete cardiac arrest, placed in a transport pan and moved to iced transport basin in ambulance at 0531. Moved from iced transport basin in pan to operating room on chiller in pan for surgery at 0700. Pan014 in use OR 2 online and active 0705. Open surgical access to the cardiac tissue was acquired, Parichon was used to restore mitochondrial function as a rapid bolus infusion delivered via the jugular artery as a 500ml bag infused at 60ml per minute and 400j cardiac surge was used by intracardiac defibrillator with 60mv of pacing applied immediately afterwards. Successful open cardioversioning was completed 0710. Patient kept under total anesthesia and confirmed by KS MedDX system. MedDX shows critical faults in connective tissues and vascular tissues particularly in the neck and cervical spine. Recommend transfer to surgical intensive care at Trauma Center. TC does not have beds and refused to accept. Stated the individual has no active trauma coverage. Will move the individual to the storage cabs on floor 4 and see to her tomorrow.”
Moments later the men inserted a thick long silver cable where the Kyoshi Connect module once sat in Jennifers head. They then connected it to the computer and across the screen her entire brain flashed. Sapphire said to the police “I refuse to wipe her chip with her this unstable, she hasn’t even gone up to storage pods.” An officer walked up next to her and grabbed her hand and said “I’ll help you push the button then, you’re going to wipe this bitches brain before we leave.” Suddenly red sirens flashed in the operating room and eight large men in kevlar vests jumped through the door grabbing onto the police officers and forcing them down to the ground. Sapphire shouted “Get these corporate ‘NIB” cops the hell out of here. This is an operating room, not an investigation room, not an interrogation room. Also, wipe their … Wait a minute.”
Sapphire knelt down to the officers and ripped their entire Kyoshi Connect units out. Blood spurted as she forced a pair of pliers into the two mens heads and ripped a pair of golden memory cards out. She then said to the surgical team in the heavy aprons “Patch those fuckers up with a pair of fresh Kyoshi memory modules and throw a new KC board and cable in.” Before she stood up she looked at the two men in the eyes and said “You may or may not remember this when we reassemble your broken brains, but if you remember my fucking face. Know that I’m the face of the bitch who will end you if you ever show up in my office again. I didn’t become a top surgeon to have little corporate thugs like you coming in here just so you can get at a woman for, being escorted through a building after a car accident. You exposed the building to her, You don’t get to wipe her chips. But I just wiped the both of you two. You’ll remember my face, the face of the one who decides who lives and dies in the OLR and the face of the one who will do more than just shattering your fucking brains if you come back here searching for Jennifer.” She then reached into the hole in their skulls with a flashing emitter and their eyes closed, as if they had been flatlined right there in an instant. The men went to work quickly inserting the new components into their brains, no anesthesia, no comfort. Then they cuffed them and dragged them out of the operating theatre. Their nearly lifeless bodies thrown in the back of a police car and sent back to the station on auto drive with a note on the steering wheel “Cost us half a mil to patch these fuckers up after they did some espionage. Get out of the Kyoshi corporate game or you will pay dearly. We nearly flatlined these two. If you wanna keep your police force alive, you’ll keep them out of the CSSC.”
Just like that, Jennifer had been brought back to life and a pair of fake cops working for Cyberdyne were put to the police station, Jennifers body was refilled with blood and her brain kept in a deep anesthetized state. They heaved the patient pan with Jennifer on top of it into a transfer cage, a large lexan cube with a lid that slammed shut loudly with a latch that was so distinct, that even in a coma, one knew they were loaded in a transfer cage. The box filled with a purple gas quickly and the men rushed off to the fourth floor via secured elevator. Sapphire followed up the stairs shouting “I want you guys to have her hooked into the grid before I get there and I need a diagnostic panel on her as soon as I touch her. I need to see the cardioversion worked.”
Jennifer surged out of the stairwell on the fourth floor and scanned her access badge to the intensive care unit. Jennifer was laid inside of the transfer cage as if it were an incubator sat on top of an intensive care module. Contained beneath her was 5Kv of medical power switching capacity. 4Kv of which was being passed through a 2 inch thick wire placed at the base of her neck going into her spinal cord. This was the Kyoshi high voltage spinal column system. The only way people would survive a massive fall of 150 floors to a trash room is by having most of their bodily systems replaced with Bioware. Jennifers body was heavily kitted out considering she was a RoboTech Military worker. Her pay was nothing short of ‘high’ making $350,000 a year she would often spend a half a million every other year on a Bioware overhaul. Now Sapphire stared at the diagnostics panel, and for the first time she got to see more than just a beating heart in a chest cavity.

Sapphire smiled and tapped a switch on the wall, the transfer cage opened and she reached inside touching the thick red cable connected to Jennifers Kyoshi Connect chip. As soon as she touched the cable Jennifers eyes sprang open and she grabbed her chest screaming gutturally “WHAT THE HELL, WHERE AM I!” Quickly Sapphire intervened.
Grabbing onto Jennifers hands she pulled her hands back down and pushed them under a pair of blue straps and said “restraints on hands active full 100.” The thick plastic belts tightened with audible creaking. Jennifer grunted and yelled “You loosen those straps and get me out of here bitch!”
Sapphire looked at Jennifer and said “Hmm, clearly your neurological processor is not working as it should. You should be calm and relaxed here in the hospital. Probably need to be seen to by the psychiatry.” She walked out of the room nonchalantly and the door slid closed. Jennifer was laying there hooked up to 5Kv of electricity, the only life support that she needed with how much Bioware her body was made of. She was more Bioware than human at this point. Sapphire worried that Jennifer was possibly entering cyberpsychosis. A blaring page was yelled by a shrill robotic voice “Pods – Floor 4 Pod 842 G. Psychiatric rapid response required. Cyberpsychosis risk is high.”
As a pair of psychiatric specialists charged into the room four security guards followed. They tapped the diagnostic console and it changed from biophysiology systems to psychiatric. They looked at the display together.

Jennifer had never been aware of, nor will she ever be aware that she was never really fully human. She was and is the product of RoboTech Military Technologies secret research division and Kyoshi MediTech’s cloning program. Made from stem cells of her deceased ‘relatives’ she was lead to believing she holds the sole inheritance to multitudes of assets. This is how she has so many cars. Believing that her father owned a Yamer dealership and that her mother was a direct descendant of Kyoshi she had a distinct stubborn attitude and solved every issue she faced even when it meant stealing or killing. Jennifer was not born, she was created in a vat. One of the worlds first vat grown humans she is regarded by RoboTech as “an experiment, in the divine.”
After the psychiatrists had found that the anesthetic was messing her up they sent for an anesthesiologist who quickly switched her from the dopamine interrupting General Electrical Deceleration System (GEDS) which used a 5KV spinal signal to disrupt the entire neurological system safely. They shut it off, disconnected her spinal column and filled the transfer cage with the purple gas. A common neuroprotective anesthetic agent that is serotogenic and dopaminogenic.
After an hour they checked again and her scan was fully negative.
Finally, Sapphire could for real, meet Jennifer.

• Technologies like KC and the Delta Servers assume the full fusion of neurotech and cloud data infrastructure, which today is being explored via DARPA programs, Neuralink, and NIH-funded BCI projects.
• Mirogel and Parichon are imagined as post-CRISPR biotechnologies where inflammation and mitochondrial dysfunction are treated within minutes via injected nanoscale therapeutics.
• The Patient Pan and Transfer Cage reflect the integration of mortuary design with emergency trauma stabilization, a likely path in ultra-high-intensity ER settings.
• Psychiatric modulating anesthetics are inspired by research into serotonergic anesthesia (like ketamine derivatives) and emerging dopamine-sparing agents.

Timeline Notes & TVC Broadcast Snippets
TVC 0400 Segment:
“This morning at 04:00 in southern Tokyo, another cyberpsycho incident has left five injured and one presumed dead. Authorities believe the suspect to be a repeat offender, still unidentified. All citizens are advised to remain inside and rely on Autodrive networks.”
TVC 0930 Segment:
“Cyberdyne Tower security has reported no structural breach following the 04:14 car crash incident. A woman was extracted from the trash room in critical condition and is currently under care of the Cyberware Surgery and Service Center. All employees are ordered to enter via the south trucking docks instead of the northern lobby entrance.”
World Note:
• Cyberdyne, Kyoshi, and RoboTech Inc. are three of the five mega-corporations controlling bioware, neural systems, and cloud militarization in 2080 Tokyo. The United Nations maintains a fragile truce, enforced by limited access to Delta Servers and AI licensing rights.

Discussion Questions
1. How does Jennifer’s emergence from death reflect society’s relationship with biotechnology in this world?
2. Sapphire’s behavior in the operating room is both clinical and emotional—how does her duality challenge our ideas of what a healer should be?
3. What ethical implications arise from memory extraction through Kyoshi Connect systems?
4. Consider the portrayal of ‘Trauma Team’—what does its privatization say about health care and class in 2080?
5. In a world where people can be ‘created’ instead of born, what defines identity and humanity?

Technician’s Testimony: Alesso Olcott, UNTTG Office Tokyo (2090)
Regarding the Kyoshi Connect deposition systems used in Jennifer Lawson’s revival: It’s worth noting these units were originally designed for inter-corp litigation, not trauma triage. That didn’t stop CSSC from co-opting them into surgical workflows, of course. There’s a fine line between “data deposition” and “brain siphoning,” but I suppose that’s why we have metadata logs. Or had them, before the elevator “accident.”
The OLR statistics in this case aren’t surprising—if your circulatory system is running on a glorified nanoplastic IV bag and a prayer, you’ve already exceeded most insurance algorithms’ tolerance windows. The fact Jennifer made it through the pan-to-pulse loop is less a miracle and more a logistical nightmare for billing.
Re: AEC modules—If you’ve ever wondered what happens when you inhibit rage suppression during spinal tap surgery, don’t. That’s what blackout protocols were built for.
Lastly, to those wondering why a spinal-damaged, cyber-augmented subject was left in a power-reliant cube with half a city’s voltage shoved up her neck: Remember, the backup grid was funded by the same firm that runs the vending machine licensing for Kyoshi-branded electrolytes. Some systems get spared during a blackout. Others are the blackout.
Jennifer Lawson’s revival proves one thing: when a body has enough capital embedded in it, not even death will void the warranty.
Chapter 2: Sapphire meets Jennifer and Derryl the Killer
T0850,06,02,2080
It’s been a whole 24 hours since the Cyberdyne attack… Jennifer lays in an intensive care bay at the Cyberware Surgical Service Center.
Sapphire sat in her high rise apartment, drinking tea while looking at her tablet computer. Jennifers condition was marked as “Critical – Stable” making Sapphire set immediate plans to visit her in the hospital wing. She pulled her scrubs off the side of the chair, she hadn’t gotten time to washing them since the last day. She walked to the underground and found a walk through clothes and body sanitizing service stall. It was cold spray with alcohol but it would have to do. She paid a few credits before thanking the operator and heading into the hospital in a great rush. Her blue ICU apron on it’s hook flew off as she surged into the ICU hallway. She tied the apron on behind her back, the shining vinyl catching Jennifers eye as she walked inside. Jennifer spoke weakly “All I remember is the pan, being stabbed, then the pan.” Sapphire came close to Jennifer and put her hand on her belly and said “Relax.” Jennifer’s breathing slowed down. Sapphire had a way with people, her warmth in thick PVC always brought people closer to reality and away from trauma. She looked at the monitors above Jennifer and said “You’re recovering well, and the data on your optic was all preserved. We have a copy on a memory shard in the vault right now.” Jennifer spoke again “Keilian. Call Keilian at RoboTech.” Sapphire turned around and said “We are doctors, not fixers. I’ll get you a phone though.” Sapphire walked out of the room and a nurse walked in handing her a telephone. Jennifer’s voice filled the hallway as she shouted at Keilan. Sapphire walked up to a computer and said to herself “Damn it, they’re gonna want that recorder file.” A nurse looked at her and said “Well, who are we to prevent her from the memory shard. We keep a copy though.”
Later that day Sapphire was paged to Jennifer’s room. Jennifer had Keilian on the phone. She said to him “Tell her what you said to me.” He growled through the phone “You, were supposed to come here, to RadiDox. Why are you in some fancy trauma center. Give me the files.” Sapphire said calmly “You realize she was stabbed and left for dead? You realize she got thrown down a garbage chute and luckily her death ping was so loud it got the recovery bots to move. Only way we kept her alive was by panning her and then taking her to the last resort OR.” Keilian didn’t care, he growled “Get me the files, or I make sure you die.” the phone line went dead. Jennifer said “Wait a minute? Was I set up by RoboTech!? Get me a computer!” Sapphire looked at the monitor and pointed at it saying “If you’re wondering if they tried to kill you, why would you still have their cyberware license key active? Remember she was a random cyberpsycho. As for Cyberdyne, you should have knew well to stay the fuck away from the Cyberdyne building. Place kills people.” Sapphire grabbed a vial from the counter, pushed a dose of pink medicine in her IV line and said “Have a good trip, I’ll see you on discharge day.”
Jennifer blacked out, when she did she felt her mind phase into a new reality. She stood at the top of the Cyberdyne building, a helicopter over her. Keilian inside hoisting her up. How the mission was supposed to end. The woman had dreamed for a month before awakening awkwardly to Sapphire tapping her hand “Jennifer, hope the dreams were good but today’s even better. You get sent out of hospital.”
Jennifer groggily sat up and said “Woo, awesome, I probably don’t have a job anymore which means my apartment is probably lapsed out. Yeehaw how fun I get to go hunting around the city for real estate.”
Sapphire sat next to her and handed her telephone to her from her locker. She opened it and there was a letter from Keilian “Great screw up, 30 days out of work, 5 days more because of the fuck up at Cyberdyne and you’re gonna be doing rehab for a year? Your career is over Jennifer. I want your module wiped of our software.”
Two men in black suits came into the room with a laptop, they plugged it into Jennifer’s Kyoshi Module and then hit erase, Jennifer had a massive seizure and a minute later they walked out leaving her. Jennifer screamed “Great, now I really have no job, and the apartment belonged to fucking RoboTech!”
Sapphire said begrudgingly “Ugh, we need to turn the rooms over for other patients but I suppose we could move you to the disused Ebola unit that they decommissioned after the 2035 Ebola pandemic.”
Jennifer stood up weakly “Oh hell no, I’m not staying in a unit that once held Ebola, I’m suicidal I’ll kill myself! There now you have to send me to psych!”
Sapphire laughed and said “Mmmhmm, suicidal in an Ebola unit, with no sharp objects or anything. Same thing as a psych unit, just more negative pressure and a hell of a lot of creepy scary things on the walls.”

Sapphire put Jennifer into a wheelchair and wheeled her down the hall to the elevator, on the 13th floor was the Ebola unit. In the hallway was the painting shown above. Jennifer scanned it with her BioWare and when she thought it was going to be something scary she sighed relief only to see it was an inspirational Tarot card designed to be read using Cyberware. The card – “The Wheelchair – It is not a hinderance, it is a weapons platform that allows one to tackle their life. For what was impossible is now with relative ease.” Jennifer became slightly more relaxed when she had found that dozens of the rooms had patients in them. Sapphire said “Did I get ya!? haha, we been using the old Ebola unit as a high dependency unit for years now! It’s not some rusted out place with broken glass, though that tarot card in the hall gets everyone every time HAHA!”
Jennifer was moved into a large monitoring suite, four cameras three intesive care monitoring systems and a bed awaited her. She sat on the bed and all four cameras scanned her before a robot greeted her and handed her a meal and coffee.
Sapphire said “What the hell? Robotic butler service!?” Sapphire said “No time to explain the room, ask the robot. I just got paged. I might have evidence about the cyberpsycho that tried to kill you when I get back!”
Sapphire walked out of the room and the glass door closed with a hiss and then tinted its self limousine black. Jennifer resorted to watching reels and listening to the stereo at this time. Now knowing she might find out who her attacker was.
Sapphire arrived to the hospital lobby, a woman at the main desk stood wearing a black blazer from the New United States Police Agency. The federal police were there. They asked her to follow them, silently. The lead officer said “You, office downtown, no talking.” They drove a half hour to an imposing office building that was black red and threatening in appearance. At the top of the building were bars, and at the top of the building was their destination. They walked into an elevator and were whisked to floor 50, interrogation and federal process.
Out of the elevator they stepped, blood droplets were on the floor leading into Interrogation 1 where the agents lead Sapphire up to the side window. They opened the door and slammed it shut after going inside. Sapphire stared at the thick meaty black muscular man and shrieked under her breath “Shit, that was Derryl, what the hell happened to Derryl, I fixed his optics a few months ago.”
Derryl was now a nearly unrecognizable blob of implants and cyberware. His arm and leg were swapped, his entire frontal lobe was gone and replaced by a Cyberdyne compute. He clearly had lost it from all the implants. Sapphire tapped on the glass, the agents came out and said “Dude’s in restraint so can’t hurt anyone.” Sapphire walked in and said “Remember me? Fixed your eye when you took that bullet to the eye during that bank heist you defended the bank from.” The man said “I don’t remember you, but I wanna kill you anyway! Get this restraint chip out of me!” Sapphire shook her head walked to the door and opened it angrily before slamming it shut saying “Yeah, that’s the fucker that was on her Kyoshi, zero him and make sure his engrams get shredded.” The agents walked into the room and the sound of gunshots filled the hall as Sapphire had gotten onto the elevator. She said under her breath “KC timestamp 1142 record send to patient Jennifer” and just like that the images of Derryl were sent to Jennifer along with the sound of him being zeroed.
That afternoon Jennifer and Sapphire met at the hospital after Sapphire had a long trip home. She had gotten stuck on the commuter train because an autonomous flying vehicle had struck a rail pylon disabling service for an hour. Jennifer said to her sitting at the desk with a laptop in the hospital room “Saw the tapes from the federal building. You sure they shredded him?” Sapphire pulled her phone out and showed the government database.

Jennifer gulped “Goddamn that guys more chips than flesh. I only took the KC module and optics and stopped there, just the optics can be a headache.”
Sapphire smiled humorously and said “I’d say the KC module is more a headache, the optics are more an eye ache!” Jennifer reached over to the hook on the wall and grabbed Sapphires apron, she walked over to the bed and laid down and said “Hope you don’t mind, I’m stealing this.” Sapphire sighed “Damn it, This is the fifth time this month someones stolen an apron off me. FINE! Just make sure you leave it on the hook when you’re done sleeping or whatever and don’t get any bodily fluids on it!” Jennifer invited Sapphire to lay on the oversized bed. Sapphire muttered “really shouldn’t be doing this but I might be able to get more intel on the case. Also, my fucking apron.” she stomped over, took her shoes off and sat on the bed turning on the sports channel saying “Well, may as well just stay put, I’m supposed to be on call tonight from the apartment and this hospital room is about half the size of my apartment, just missing the kitchenette and dining area.” Sapphire grabs her phone and says “Food service to 1314, two full dinners.” The man replies “Sapphire, what the hell are you doing ordering food!? You’re on call not in the hospital!” Sapphire laughs like a little girl “Shush Steven, I’m playing hookie while being in the right place to get paid without having to deal with Miss I got a sniffy nose I need a BioPen, and Mr I’m an old constipated dried out man give me an AutoDisimpactor treatment. I’m taking care of one of my rehab patients. Ain’t got no time for the emergency rooms riff raff tonight. Also bitch stole my apron.” Jennifer shouted “She said I could have it!” Steven said “Food will be on the way and I don’t wanna hear the damn apron argument again!” the phone clicked.
The end for now 😉 See you all again soon!
